New to Disney+ in February

Season 33 of The Simpsons at last has been added to Disney+ — months later than S34, which is running a couple of episodes behind Fox TV’s broadcasts in the US.

The delay would appear due to a legacy deal with TVNZ for rights to the season. Last month, Fox TV announced a two-season renewal of the series, along with Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.

Meanwhile, S18 of American Dad, which has been renewed for a 19th, will stream from February 15.

Also new this month is Kindred (February 8), an eight-part series about an aspiring writer (Mallori Johnson) who discovers secrets about her family’s past when she’s mysteriously pulled back and forth in time to a 19th century plantation.

The Hulu drama earned mixed reviews in the US, ranging from “this gripping adaptation, developed and exec produced by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Watchmen), expands Octavia Butler’s groundbreaking exploration of America’s racist history into a profound puzzle-box thriller” (Entertainment Weekly) to “quickly begins to drag” (Rolling Stone).

Not Dead Yet (February 9) is a Star original about a broke and newly single, self-described disaster (Gina Rodriguez) working as an obituary writer who starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

On the true-crime front, Killing Country (February 3) is an ABC News series about the aftermath of a shooting in California’s Bakersfield, “a big city with the soul of a small town”; Web of Death (February 17) reveals how online sleuths use their fingerprints, DNA databases and social media to solve gruesome, mysterious and bizarre murders; and Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence (February 9) details how a coercive sex cult derailed the lives of its victims.

Already streaming are Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThe Proud Family: Louder and Prouder S2, The Chorus: Success and Miraculous Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir S1-4 while still to come are:

It’s going to be interesting to see what season 1 of The Saint is all about next week 🤔

  2. Sorry, Trevor, did you not see my earlier reply? It’s a Brazilian thriller series, the original title of which translates to Damned Saint.

  3. Then why didn’t they call it that? It would have stopped the confusion 🙄

  4. I saw on an Ozzy site this week that Sky could lose National Geographic end of March as their license has run out and it’s moving to Disney online streaming.

  5. Thanks, Paul W. That’s probably inevitable given Disney owns 73% of NatGeo.
