New to Disney+ in February

Shōgun is Disney’s big-gun premiere for its streaming service this month.

The second adaptation of the James Clavell novel is set in 1600 Japan as civil war looms.

The first two of 10 episodes land on February 27, with the rest to roll out weekly.

“With a cast of stellar talent that includes Cosmo Jarvis (Persuasion) and Anna Sawai (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) plus many decorated Japanese actors, this is an international series that will certainly grip viewers,” Radio Times predicts.

Other highlights include the latest MCU entry, The Marvels (February 7); Suncoast, the Woody Harrelson-Laura Linney movie about the friendship between a teenager and weird activist ((February 9); S2 of Beth & Life (February 16); and the animated Iwaju, a futuristic coming-of-age series set in Lagos (February 28).

  1. I see Disney, Fox and WBD are looking to combine their sports streaming in the US in a new JV to aggregate. Hard to make money with high cost content in a fragmented environment so its JV time [again]. No word on pricing or if NBCU will join (I’m guessing it’ll consider post-Olympics …)

  2. I highly recommend The Marvels on Disney+. It’s so much fun. The scene with the kittens is hilarious 😂
