New to Disney+ in February

Docuseries Scamanda (February 26) is based on the podcast of the same name.
It unravels the story of California native Amanda Riley, a young wife, mother and devout Christian whose life suddenly takes a terrible turn when she is diagnosed with Stage 3 blood cancer.
Amanda begins documenting her battle online, captivating thousands, but she has a secret that she is dying to keep.
Her story changes from inspiration to suspicion when someone sends an anonymous tip to investigative producer Nancy Moscatiello, who then embarks on a five-year-long investigation into Amanda.
Other highlights include Pixar Animation Studios’ Win or Lose (February 19), which intertwines the stories of eight characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game; Victorian boxing drama A Thousand Blows (February 21); and National Geographic’s No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski (February 24), which explores the ancestral culinary heritage of celebrities.
In each episode, the Canadian chef and his guests hit the road internationally to uncover the unique stories behind cherished family dishes, such as the origins of Justin Theroux’s family pasta in Italy, the delectable flavours of Awkwafina’s Korean heritage, the English cuisine of Florence Pugh, the German dishes beloved of James Marsden, Henry Golding’s Malayasian favourites, and Essa Rae’s Senegalese recipes and roots.

Phil, it’s interesting to see Disney licensing shows from Warner Bros. with Gilmore Girls and Young Sheldon. Both are perfect Disney fare, though. — Brian.
Quite agree, Brian. But you have to wonder how much mileage there is for Disney+ when both series already can be streamed on Netflix while Young Sheldon is on Sky’s Max and TVNZ+ as well (although it leaves this platform next month). D+ also has picked up Ghosts, which is a Paramount+ property elsewhere. Meanwhile, still no sign of Disney’s own ABC comedy hit, Shifting Gears. Go figure.
Phil, what’s happened to Trevor, who used to contribute here frequently? The last I heard from one of your comments, he’d been unwell.– Brian.
Yes, Brian, I fear Trevor may be far from well. He was far and away our most regular contributor, and it’s been months since he last posted. Hopefully he’s recovering to make a comeback as his enthusiastic contributions are sorely missed 🤞
Hope Trevor gets well soon, he’s one of the OG’s of this site. Definitely looking forward to his comeback ❤️ — Leo.
Hello everyone. I have done some digging, and unfortunately I have some sad news to share with you all.
Trevor passed away during the second half of last year. See the seventh listed name on this webpage: http://www.lawsociety.org.nz/professional-practice/will-notices/will-inquiries-advertised-in-september-2024/
R.I.P. Trevor. — Grant.
Thanks, Grant, that’s terribly sad news — and what I feared may be the case. Trevor’s been this site’s most frequent contributor since 2012 and his lively, passionate and wide-ranging observations were a catalyst for not only other comments but also for me to look into issues I hadn’t considered. His presence already has been missed and will continue to be.
Such sad news to hear about Trevor. He was always such a robust debater especially when it came to defending TV3 against TVNZ. As the years go by you feel a sense of community on this site and appreciate seeing everyone’s input. Trevor is deeply missed on this site. Rest In Peace Trevor, thank you for being a part of the Screenscribe club. Condolences to his family and friends 💟 Thank you Grant for letting us know about his passing. — Leo.
That’s terribly sad news – I always enjoyed reading his enthusiastic and passionate contributions to the comments section here. In a way, it’s fitting that this news has come via a Disney+ related post – that service was a particular passion of Trevor’s since it came along. Vale Trevor and thanks Grant for the heads up.– Clint.
Oh that is sad news. Yes, you could always count on Trevor to comment on anything Disney+. Hopefully, they have streaming services in the afterlife! — Brian.
Hi, I don’t often post – but long-term reader. Very sad about Trevor, I always enjoyed reading his posts and passion within this space. Rest in Peace, Trevor. – Sam.
