New to Disney+ in July

Disney+ is promoting July as “Adventure Month” with a raft of movies, documentaries and series that run the gamut from a sharkfest to the first four seasons of The Amazing Race to the latest season of Running Wild With Bear Grylls.

In Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth (July 9), the Avengers star is on a mission as he uncovers the science of shark behaviour to discover how humans and the ocean’s top predator can safely coexist.

Playing with Sharks (July 23) captures the life of Valerie Taylor, an Australian living legend and true pioneer in both underwater filmmaking and shark research.

Stuntman (July 23) follows professional stuntman Eddie Braun as he attempts one of the most dangerous stunts in history, Evel Knievel’s Snake River Canyon rocket jump while Behind the Attraction (July 21) sounds like self-promotional puffery about Disney Parks thrill rides

There also will be two Premier Access movies — Black Widow (July 9) and Jungle Cruise (July 30) — and four series premieres: movie spin-offs Monsters at Work (July 7) and Turner & Hooch (July 21), Turning the Tables With Robin Roberts (July 28) and the six-part Star Original documentary McCartney 3,2,1 (July 16), in which Paul McCartney sits down with legendary producer Rick Rubin to discuss his groundbreaking work with The Beatles, the emblematic 70s arena rock of Wings and his 50 years and counting as a solo artist.

New movies include When in Rome and Confessions of a Shopaholic (July 16), and Chariots of Fire (July 23).

Next month’s also notable for Disney+ moving Original Series premieres from Fridays to Wednesdays following the successful trialling of Loki; Disney+ Original Movies will continue to launch on Fridays.
