New to Disney+ in May
Disney+ will drop all eight episodes of American Born Chinese on May 24.
Based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, it chronicles the trials and tribulations of a regular American teenager whose life is forever changed when he befriends the son of a mythological god. Reads the blurb:
This is the story of a young man’s battle for his own identity, told through family, comedy, and action-packed kung-fu.
It will premiere the same day as another series, The Clearing.
Based on the crime thriller by J.P. Pomare, it follows the nightmares of a cult and a woman who’s forced to face the demons from her past to stop the kidnapping and coercion of innocent children in the future.
The Australian commission stars Teresa Palmer, Miranda Otto and Guy Pearce.
Also new will be the four-part Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All (May 3), which is billed as “a definitive and searingly honest view into his private life”; animated Stars Wars spin-offs Young Jedi Adventures and Visions (May 4); The Muppets Mayhem (May 10); coming-of-age adventure Crater (May 12); and a re-make of White Men Can’t Jump (May 19).
