New to Disney+ in May

Hit comedy Shifting Gears at last surfaces on Disney+, along with the first half of season three of Will Trent and the second half of S2 of Tracker.

Shifting Gears broke ratings records when it premiered on ABC in January but by the time the season finale aired in April, live+same day viewership had dropped from 6.1 million viewers to 3.8 million.

Nonetheless, it ranked fifth among ABC’s scripted series this season and was renewed.

Tim Allen stars as the widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop whose estranged daughter (Kat Dennings) and her kids move into his house.

Critics were underwhelmed: “Shifting Gears has a formidable pair of sitcom stars in Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, but flavourless characters and flat jokes keep their new comedic vehicle stuck in neutral,” was the Rotten Tomatoes verdict.

Will Trent resumes on May 14 and Tracker on May 28.
