New to Disney+ in November

In the wake of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings and HBO’s House of the Dragon comes the next fantasy saga reboot, Willow.

The Disney+ sequel to Ron Howard’s 1988 movie that was shot in NZ will stream from November 30, with Warwick Davis again in the titular role. Reads the blurb:

The Nelwyn sorcerer returns, years after rescuing the infant empress Elora Danan, to lead group of misfit heroes on a harrowing rescue mission through a world beyond imagination.

“The new Willow looks magical and whimsical in all the right ways,” Forbes reckons. “The trailer captures pretty much everything I want out of a return to the fantastical land of Andowyne … Swashbuckling adventure, the rise of a dread new evil, a colourful cast of interesting characters and plenty of humour.”

Also new will be:

  • Donna Hay Christmas (November 2)
  • Zootopia+, a short-form series that dives deeper into the lives of some of the Oscar-winning movie’s most intriguing residents (November 9)
  • superstar underdog reality series Save Our Squad with David Beckham (November 9)
  • Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, in which the Thor star undertakes extreme challenges (November 16)
  • belated movie sequelsThe Santa Clauses (November 16) and Disenchanted (November 18)
  • the sprawling true-crime saga Welcome to Chippendales (November 22)
  • The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (November 25).

Also of note will be Fleishman Is In Trouble (November 17), a Star Original series about a recently divorced 41-year-old (Jesse Eisenberg) who dives into the brave new world of app-based dating with the kind of success he never had dating in his youth, before he got married at the tail end of medical school.

But just at the start of his first summer of sexual freedom, his ex-wife (Claire Danes) disappears, leaving him with their 11-year-old and nine-year-old and no hint of where she is or whether she plans to return.

Other highlights will include Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium (November 21) and three modern TV classics, two about lawyers, the other about firefighters:

No Future Man S1-3? Is that AU only?

  2. It certainly isn’t NZ-bound for the foreseeable future, Sam.

  3. I’m looking forward to the show about Mickey Mouse, it looks really interesting ?

  4. I see seasons 1-3 of Mr. Mercedes are being added to Disney+ on Wednesday ?

  5. Thanks for the update, Trevor. I quite liked S1 but gave up on S2.

  6. Actually I think I have only seen the first episode. I guess it didn’t make much of a impression on me but still think I will give it another go ?
