New to Disney+ in October

October highlights for Disney+ will include the latest season of Grey’s Anatomy but probably not the newest Simpsons episodes.

The information Disney+ released for this market includes season 34 of The Simpsons but that’s likely to be a mistake as the NZ service is only up to S32 because of the legacy deal with TVNZ.

There’s no such restriction in Australia, where you can already stream S33 on Disney+ and presumably S34 from October 12. I’ve sought clarification from Disney+ NZ but so far no word.

Grey’s fans, however, can look forward to their scrubs’n’suds fix from October 19, when S19 will start streaming weekly. The Disney+ streams will trail the US broadcasts by about two weeks whereas S3 of Big Sky (October 26) will have a three-week lag.

Also new will be the Star Original Movie, Rosaline (October 14), which is billed as a “fresh and comedic twist” on Romeo & Juilet, and  three Disney+ Original series:

Shipwreck Hunters Australia (October 5, all episodes), in which a unique team of adventurous divers and underwater filmmakers are joined by expert maritime archaeologists on the hunt for long-lost shipwreck secrets.

Werewolf by Night (October 7), in which a secret cabal of monster hunters are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic.

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (October 26), which will feature six new animated shorts featuring parables built around Jedi from the prequel era.
