New to Disney+ in September

A spectacular new natural history series from executive producer James Cameron leads next month’s highlights on Disney+.

Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, Super/Natural is said to use the latest scientific innovations and leading-edge filmmaking technology to reveal the secret powers and super-senses of the world’s most extraordinary animals.

The publicity promises you can expect “to see and hear beyond normal human perception to experience the natural world as a specific species does — from seeing flowers in bee-vision to eavesdropping on a conversation between elephant seals to soaring the length of a football field with glow-in-the-dark squirrels.”

It should look and sound nothing short of sensational in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Otherwise, the schedule is dominated by Disney+ Day premieres on September 8, ranging from a live-action Pinocchio starring Tom Hanks, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Thor: Love and Thunder to Cars on the Road and Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return.

Growing Up is billed as “an innovative hybrid docu-series that explores the challenges, triumphs, and complexities of adolescence through ten compelling coming of age stories” using narrative, experimental, and documentary filmmaking techniques.

Andor will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make.

Wedding Season is dubbed a “genre-busting … action-packed romp” about lovers implicated in the murder of the woman’s new husband and  his family.

The Karsdashians and Reservation Dogs will return for their second seasons while all 11 seasons of Modern Family will be available to stream for the first time on the platform to coincide with the premiere of Reboot from one of the co-creators.

There also will sing-along versions of Frozen and Frozen II (September 8) and Coco (September 14).
