New to Hayu & Bravo in October

“War … what is it good for? At last, we have an answer: delivering eight hours of high-quality balderdash direct to your TV screens for your glorious delectation.”

That’s The Guardian’s verdict on Hayu’s new legal drama sensation, War, which streams from October 4.

It follows the explosive divorce of British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson (Dominic West) and international film star Carla Duval (Sienna Miller), as two top London law firms stop at nothing to secure victory for their clients.

“You know you are in for a rollicking treat … with this story of two horrible rich, famous people, divorcing in the public eye and battling it out in court via two teams of even more horrible, rich lawyers with everyone bent on doing as much harm to the other side as possible,” The Guardian continued.

“War builds tension brilliantly and unfolds into something far more intricate than it first appears,” Variety said while The Hollywood Reporter observed: “War understands better than anyone that sometimes what matters in a tale is not how factually true or morally righteous it is, but how compellingly it sweeps you along for the ride.”

Here’s what other top critics are saying as well as the trailer.

Also new to Hayu are:

  • S11 of The Real Housewives of Potomac (October 12)
  • S13 of Below Deck (October 13)
  • S1-8 of Will & Grace and the 2017 reboot (October 13)
  • the premiere of The Golden Life (October 21), a Real Housewives of New York spin-off set in Palm Beach, Florida.

Hayu’s sister platform, Bravo, doesn’t broadcast in HD but its shows can be streamed in HD on ThreeNow.

Here’s what’s coming this month:

  • The Killer Among Us S1 (October 19, 8.30), a real-life whodunit in which Alan Cumming ventures down “the duplicitous road of devious, double-crossing, and deadly stories of those slain by a member of their own circle”
  • The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th (October 10, 10.30), in which seven of the most iconic Real Housewives whoop it up “for a girls’ trip like no other” through Orange County, Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Miami and New York City
  • House of Villains S3 (October 23)
  • A Plan to Kill S2 (October 5).

Fascinating that again HBO Max in NZ won’t have what is ostensibly (albeit a co-prod) an HBO show. Would have been a shiny new item to promote in a quietish period. — Clint.

Yes, it’s ironic, but NBCUniversal has the international sales rights, hence it going to NBCU-owned Hayu.
