New to HBO Max on Neon in November

The Seduction, a French TV prequel to Dangerous Liaisons, following the rise to power of the young Isabelle de Merteuil, is among Neon’s HBO Max premieres in November.
The six-part “reimagining” starring Diane Kruger and Anamaria Vartolomei streams from November 24.
“Star power alone is enough to demand attention, but the fact it’s Max’s first original out of France adds to the narrative juice,” Deadline sauys.
“Expect sex, royal courts and smouldering French passion, if the much-loved 1988 film starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer and Keanu Reeves is anything to go by.”
The series will screen as Merteuil in France and as The Seduction internationally (here’s the trailer).
“We are delighted to bring to life Merteuil, a series that explores power games, manipulation, and moral dilemmas through complex and fascinating characters,” said Véra Peltekian, Vice President of original French productions at Max.
“This ambitious project allows us to revisit the spirit of Dangerous Liaisons through a modern prism, while retaining the intensity and sophistication that made it a timeless masterpiece.”

The Confidante (November 13) is a thriller about a Parisian rock music fan who joins a community of survivors after witnessing the harrowing 2015 Bataclan attacks.
“The Confidante’s central theme is a spooky look at empathy as a cover for deception,” said one review.
“This false victimhood not only shows her desperate quest for belonging but also serves as a disturbing commentary on the need for trauma and resilience stories in society.”
TV Guide dubbed I Love LA (November 3) “an Internet-age comedy with universal appeal”:
[It] shows the lack of stability that Millennials and Gen-Z face in the workplace, which, because of the internet and COVID, is unique to their generations. It’s also one of the more realistic and sympathetic depictions of social media careers — for influencers and managers alike (no, they’re not just interns) — and strikes a good balance of making fun of the industry’s more ridiculous realities and taking the hardships of it seriously.
