New to Lightbox in August

Next month Lightbox will debut the US sitcom Single Parents, which stars Taran Killam (How I Met Your Mother), Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Kimrie Lewis (The Mindy Project) as a group of single parents who lean on each other to help raise their young kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood.

It also stars Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) and will start its second season in the US in September. The first full season will stream from August 15.

Reviews were largely positive, although most thought it derivative of the genre. “There’s plenty of material there,” Variety said. “Hopefully, with a strong cast and writing team behind it, Single Parents can tap into it and find a specific groove all its own.”

Also new next month will be S2 of Imposters (from August 7), S3 of Preacher (weekly from August 5), S6 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine (from August 6), S5 of Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (from August 23) and S1 of The Resident (from August 21).
