New to Lightbox in July
Next month Lightbox will fast-track weekly episodes of season eight of Suits and premiere the latest exclusive seasons of Harlots and UnREAL.
It will also debut the mini-series, Midwinter of the Spirit, which stars Motherland’s Anna Maxwell Martin as a solo mum exorcist.
The Telegraph thought the 2015 production “an exceptionally creepy visit to the spirit world” while The Guardian said: “There’s little room for subtlety in ITV’s drama, what with scary satanists, dead men who don’t want to be dead and creepy music that signposts every shock, but it’s a lot of fun and chilling too.”
Lightbox also is picking up the disappointing prequel, Prime Suspect: Tennison, which TVNZ 1 first aired, and seasons one and two of the FX comedy series, Married, starring Judy Greer (27 Dresses) and Nat Faxon (The Descendants).
Said Entertainment Weekly of the latter: “It’s a very funny show about how hard it is realising you’ve become a cliché: the useless husband, the naggy wife, the insufferable couple on the sitcom.”
But The Hollywood Reporter thought it “forced, mostly unfunny and tragic in that you immediately want to root for Faxon and Greer, two very funny and very likable comic actors, to have better material”.
Other July highlights include seasons 1-6 of New Girl and the movie rentals Peter Rabbit, Ready Player One, Rampage, Sweet Country, Early Man, Singularity, The Cleanse, American Pastoral, Paul: Apostle of Christ and Buena Vista Social Club: Adios.
Streaming in order of their premieres will be:
- Midwinter of the Spirit (July 3)
- Married, S1-2 (July 6)
- Harlots, S2 (July 12)
- Unreal, S4 (July 17)
- Suits, S8 (July 19)
- New Girl, S1-6 (July 24)
- Prime Suspect: Tennison (July 31).
