New to Lightbox in October

Next month Spark’s streaming service Lightbox will launch British comedy/drama Age Before Beauty and express weekly from the US the latest seasons of Loudermilk and Blindspot.

It also will premiere NZ original Get It to the Papa, a six-part series that will stream in two weekly episodes from October 16.

The Spinoff production follows journalist Hayden Donnell on an ambitious quest to collect underappreciated Kiwi cultural artifacts for New Zealand’s national museum.

Age Before Beauty is a family saga set in a Manchester beauty salon and stars Robson Green, Sue Johnston and Polly Walker.

Reviews were mixed and the BBC has yet to renew the series, which ended last month.

RadioTimes.com understands from production sources that a second run is very much “on the cards”, provided writer Debbie Horsfield finds the time in-between finishing her scripts for season five of Poldark.

And while ratings have been disappointing – under 3 million watched the penultimate episode – it has attracted a loyal fan base who will be keen to see more.

It will stream in its entirety from October 4 while streaming weekly will be season two of Loudermilk (from October 18) and season four of Blindspot (from October 15).

Lightbox also is picking up two miniseries that have had free-to-air runs: Prime’s The White Princess (from October 15) and TVNZ 1’s outstanding Ride Upon the Storm (from October 29).

It’s also adding Covert Affairs (seasons 1-5 from October 10), season three of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce (from October 1) and season five of The Goldbergs (from October 8).
