New to Neon in February
New to Sky’s streaming service this month are the abolitionist dramedy The Good Lord Bird, the McDonalds fraud documentary series McMillions, and the latest seasons of Kidding, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, The Bold Type and Motherland.
TV Guide reports Showtime’s John Brown dramatisation will be “unexpectedly funny“.
According to James McBride, who wrote the award-winning novel about a teenage slave who joins Brown’s abolitionist army: “This is not the typical story of the white saviour that comes to save African American people.
“This is the African American perspective on the white saviour that comes to save us. So it’s a lot different. And that’s why it’s so funny. It’s a story of caricature.”
The Good Lord Bird will stream the same day it airs on Soho2.
