New to Neon in January

ER producer John Wells and star Noah Wylie reunite for Neon’s new hospital drama series The Pitt (January 10).

It’s billed as a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in modern America.

Wylie plays the chief attendant in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room. Each episode follows an hour of his 15-hour shift.

The series made headlines when Michael Crichton’s widow Sherri filed a lawsuit alleging it was an unauthorised rebranded reboot of her husband’s ER.

Responded Warner Bros in its motion to dismiss: “The Pitt is a completely different show from ER.

“Plaintiff cannot use Mr. Crichton’s ER contract as a speech-stifling weapon to prevent Defendants from ever making a show about emergency medicine.”

Other newcomers include Joe vs Carole S1 (January 6), Ibiza Narcos S1 (January 8) and Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (January 29).

Neon’s also dusting off 2012 thriller The Last Weekend (January 19) while returning are Bump S5 (January 5), Night Court S3 (January 17) and Harley Quinn S5 (January 17).
