New to Neon in July

Sky’s Neon is beefing up its slate with a raft of exclusives and premieres this month, including Suits spin-off Jessica Pearson and season three of Snowfall, which it will stream ahead of its SoHo run.

The former stars Gina Torres as the disbarred lawyer shifting from the courtrooms of New York City to the Chicago mayor’s office, where she becomes his new fixer.

New episodes will stream weekly from July 18.

S3 of Snowfall (weekly from July 12) is set in the summer of 1984, when crack cocaine distribution and addiction are rife. A SoHo date has yet to be announced.

Also exclusive to Neon will be S3 of Mary Kills People (from July 3), S1-2 of Squinters (from July 26) and S1 of American Princess (eps 1-3 from July 9, then weekly).

Squinters is an Australian comedy about life in Sydney’s western suburbs while American Princess follows a real-life inspired New York City socialite who runs away to join a renaissance fair after her fairy tale wedding winds up a nightmare.

Said The Hollywood Reporter: “American Princess might have just been a one-off rom-com in another life, like a Ren Faire-set Overboard, but the show soon settles into something smarter, darker and emotionally richer than its high-concept fish-out-of-troubled-water conceit might indicate.”

These debuts reflect Sky’s new ambitions for making Neon more competitive with other streaming services. July’s line-up also will include SoHo newcomers:

  • The Loudest Voice (weekly from July 4, the same day as its linear broadcast)
  • City on a Hill (eps 1 and 2 from July 17, then weekly from July 24)
  • S3 of Legion (weekly from today — five days ahead of its SoHo2 launch)
  • S4 of Catastrophe (from July 5).

Sky5 and vibe being upgraded to HD on July 2 Sky has confirmed! First spotted on the July SkyWatch. I can actually possibly watch stuff on it now.

  2. Thanks, I’ve just posted about it. Only last week I asked Sky about progress on their HD channel upgrades and they had nothing to report!
