New to Neon in October

Nancy Drew is one of three exclusive series that will stream next month on Neon (express weekly from October 10).

It stars Kennedy McMann in the teenage sleuth’s third TV series, this time for The CW.

New York magazine dubbed this darker update “your new horny mystery show”:

We won’t spoil any of the actual plot details in Nancy Drew episode one, but suffice it to say, if you love dark and sexy Riverdale but find yourself longing for the presence of a keen girl detective, Nancy Drew is your new strange addiction.

Another young adult newcomer, Looking for Alaska (from October 19), is an eight-part Hulu drama about a boarding school tragedy.

It’s an adaptation of the popular book by John Green, which was published 15 years ago yet, despite repeated attempts, was never turned into a movie.

Murder for Hire (season 1A, from October 3) is a Dick Wolf production about some of the most fascinating murder-for-hire cases. Reads the blurb:

Investigators are seeing a sharp increase in hired hits across the US, and those involved shockingly include housewives, wealthy bankers, military officers and even grandmothers. From scorned lovers to jealous relatives, the show explores in rare, never-before-seen footage, how a seemingly good relationship can go wrong and the emotions surrounding the reveal when an intended victim discovers a hit has been taken on their life.

Also new will be two SoHo series that Neon will stream concurrently: Watchmen (express weekly from October 21) and Catherine the Great (from October 9).

Other fast-tracked series will include S7 of Supergirl (from October 7), S6 of The Flash (weekly from October 9), S15 of Supernatural (weekly from October 11), S2 of Charmed (weekly from October 12) and S6 of Silicon Valley (weekly from October 28).

Also new to Neon next month will be S1 of Jett (from October 7), The Name of the Rose (from October 19), Lambs of God (from October 25), S2 of Salvation (from October 29) and S2 of Vida (from October 16).

Movie premieres will include How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, The Mule, Hostiles and Forever My Girl.
