New to Neon in October

Supernatural prequel The Winchesters will stream next month on Neon, together with another spooky newcomer, Let the Right One In.

The Winchesters is billed as “the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester met Mary Campbell and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world”.

The original series ran for 15 seasons and the producers promise the prequel will continue its supernatural legacy.

“A lot of people are like, ‘Hang on, are you changing the lore?” executive producer and Supernatural star Jensen Ackles told Entertainment Weekly.

Is this like Back to the Future, where Dean and Sam are going to start to disappear in the picture?’ It’s not,” Jensen says. “We obviously don’t want to change anything that was experienced on what we lovingly call the mothership.”

Returning for new seasons will be The Good Doctor, Avenue 5, The White Lotus, The Vow and Gangs of London while box sets will include S1-4 of Mr Robot and Comedy Central’s Nathan for You.

Among the new documentaries to stream will be:

  • The Black Ferns: Wahine Toa, the story of the women’s rugby team’s preparations for the Rugby World Cup.
  • Brene Brown: Atlas of the Heart, an interactive guide to human emotions and experiences
  • George Carlin’s American Dream, an HBO profile of the legendary comedian who inspired so many stand-up greats
  • One Perfect Shot, a behind-the-scenes take on classic cinematic moments

New movies will include King Richard, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Uncharted, Moonfall, The Bad Guys, Ambulance and The 355.

There also will be a season of documentary movies that includes the HBO premieres EndangeredWe Met in Virtual Reality, Katrina Babies and, better late than never, On the Trail: Inside the 2020 Primaries.

White Lotus S2 will be very interesting. S1 was a good novel concept but the sophomore season for such fare always struggles. I see that The Last of Us will be heading to Sky/Neon in 2023.

  2. YAY, looking forward to The Winchesters. Also I see Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, such exciting news ?
