New to Neon in September

Sky’s streaming service Neon will premiere Showtime’s new crime drama American Rust six days ahead of SoHo.

The first episode of the Jeff Daniels mystery-thriller set in a small Pennsylvania steel town will stream within hours of its US debut on September 13.

However, hopes of this being another Mare of Easttown have been dashed by an early review in Variety, which says not even Jeff Daniels can bring American Rust to life.

“The plot thrives on contrivance and misunderstanding more often than human emotion, and attempts to draw out what it’s like for characters to live where they do more often seem to end in showy small-town cliché.”

Other September SoHo premieres that also will be available on Neon earlier or from the same day include S3 of What We Do in the ShadowsScenes From a Marriage and S5B of Billions.

Neon’s also fast-tracking S5 of The Good Doctor, S4 of New Amsterdam, S4 of FBI, S3 of FBI: Most Wanted and S4 of A Million Little Things.

Other highlights include new true-crime obsession New Scotland Yard Files, BBC “thrupple” drama Trigonometry and the Maori Language Week line-up of The Ring INZ (S1-3), Find Me a Maori Bride (S1-2), Hamu & Tofiga and the movies Dark Horse, The Dead Lands, Mahana and Poi-E.

Other new movies will include Rams, Greenland, Rogue, City of Lies and True History of the Kelly Gang.
