Keenly anticipated HBO drama Task will debut on Neon on September 8 — the same day as its US premiere and 24 hours ahead of its linear launch on Sky’s HBO channel.

Set in the blue collar ‘burbs of Philadelphia, it stars Mark Ruffalo as the head of an FBI taskforce investigating a spate of home invasions masterminded by a family man (Ozark’s Mark Pelphrey).

“That was a character that I was interested in – a man whose faith is challenged by events in his life,” creator Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown) told Vanity Fair. “How does he react and respond?”

Lolo: The Champion Maker (September 23) explores what turned promising fighter Lolo Heimuli into an award-winning super coach who’s still training Kiwis in combat sports at the age of 65 — although his focus has now shifted to improving their young lives for the future.

Reality newcomer Virgins (September 24) follows four people in their 30s and 40s who have never had sex.

“Whether you were a late bloomer or not, you’ll appreciate that Virgins treats its participants with mostly care and empathy,” Decider said, “even if the producers can’t help themselves sometimes by leaning into the super-awkward moments each has.”

Also new are Santiago of the Seas S1-2 (September 1), My Favourite Dead Person S3 (September 3) and a raft of HBO Max series, including S2 of Brilliant Minds, true-crime docuseries American Monster: Abuse of Power and:
