New to Prime Video in May
The NBC true-life dramatisation of the murder mystery that inspired hit podcast The Thing About Pam at last comes to NZ as part of Prime Video’s streaming premieres in May, along with the Bosch spin-off and a promising sci-fi series with stellar leads.
THE THING ABOUT PAM (May 13)
The 2011 murder of Betsy Faria resulted in her husband Russ’ conviction, although he was later exonerated. This brutal crime set off a chain of events that would expose a diabolical scheme deeply involving Pam Hupp on Deadline NBC and spawned became the 2019 podcast of the same name.
Renée Zellweger, Josh Duhamel, Judy Greer star in a six-part series that Rotten Tomatoes summed up as “a glossy take on a true crime is neither as entertaining or insightful as it aims to be”.

NIGHT SKY (May 20)
Spanning space and time, Night Sky follows Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin York (J.K. Simmons), a couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended … and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.
BOSCH: LEGACY (May 6)
The first season of the spin-off is loosely based on Michael Connelly’s The Wrong Side of Goodbye and follows Harry (Titus Williver) as he begins a new chapter as a private investigator. For his first job, he teams with Maurice “Mo” Bassi, a tech-forward gadget whiz to find the only potential heir to an ailing billionaire.

CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS (May 16)

THE WILDS S2 (May 6)
Survival hangs in the balance for a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, after the explosive discovery that what’s happening to them is an elaborate social experiment. Season 2 ups the drama and keeps you guessing, with the introduction of more test subjects – a new island of teenage boys – who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master.
