New to Rialto in November

Next month Sky’s Rialto Channel will premiere the Spanish erotic thriller series, Instinto (8.30 Tuesdays from November 3).

The eight-part series, about a tormented young businessman (The 33’s Mario Casa) who uses a private club to fulfill his fantasies, will screen in double-episodes.

It’s billed as “an erotic thriller about passion, intimacy, sex, trust, and love” in the vein of Fifty Shades of Grey and Eyes Wide Shut

Rialto also will launch season two of ribald British dramedy Brassic (8.30 Sundays from November 1). The publicity promises bigger and bolder adventures:

Having spent months hiding in the weed bunker, Vinnie is finally found by McCann, who offers him his freedom in exchange for Vinnie undertaking the odd job as a thief. Ecstatic to be back in the game, Vinnie hires Dylan to mastermind a new industrial weed farm, while Tommo, Erin, and Sugar acquire a local strip joint. But it isn’t long before disaster looms … sound familiar?

The Guardian headlined its review of the season premiere “lewd, crude … and totally brilliant“.

But The Telegraph thought it too try-hard: “Some of the jokes feel forced, annoying references are shoehorned into the script and some of the characters are there simply in service of a speech or a sight gag.”

Also new next month will be:

  • A Monday night French film festival (Farewell to the Night, Pearl, At War, Amanda, Non-Fiction)
  • A Wednesday night season of dance movies (Yuli, A Delicate Balance, The Dancer, Cunningham)
  • A Thursday night season of Kiwi premieres (Capital in the 21st Century, Hillary: From the Ocean to the SkyBludgeon: Orcas of the LandCamino Skies)
  • Saturday night premieres (Relic, Farming, The Day Shall Come, Sorry We Missed You).
