New to Sky Box Sets in January

Sky Box Sets will screen the NZ broadcast premiere of PEN15 on January 5.

It stars comics Maya Erskine (Wine Country) and Anna Konkle (Rosewood) as versions of themselves as teenage outcasts in the year 2000.

Adults Maya and Anna – as their younger selves – are surrounded by actual teenagers as they re-experience some of the ups and downs of middle school life.

“PEN15 flips the adolescent script so many times with such clever insight that it can genuinely become disorienting after a lifetime of never seeing anything quite like it onscreen,” said Variety.

“It feels like watching a show entirely about the ‘geeks’ from Freaks and Geeks, except it was explicitly written for and by women.”

PEN15 was first seen here on Sky’s Neon streaming service.

Also new to SBS in January will be Jett and season two of Barry.
