New to SoHo and Neon in August
HBO’s latest sic-fi-/horror sensation, Lovecraft Country, will premiere on Neon two days ahead of SoHo2.
The 10-part JJ Abrams-Jordan Peele collaboration will stream weekly from August 17, the same day it debuts in the US, and air 8.30 Wednesdays.
The cast includes Jonathan Majors (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), Jurnee Smollett (Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story) and Michael Kenneth Williams (The Night Of).
Buzzfeed’s cited 15 reasons to watch the series, which, according to HBO:
Follows Atticus Freeman as he meets up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
The only other SoHo newcomers in August are season four Room 104 (SoHo2, 8.30 Thursdays from August 13) and S3 of Vida (SoHo2, 9.00 Thursdays from August 13).
New to Neon will be two top Irish dramas that first screened on SoHo, Dublin Murders (August 8) and Death and Nightingales (August 27), and a raft of UK documentaries.
Neon movie premieres will include Jojo Rabbit, Ford v Ferrari, Terminator: Dark Fate, Cats and Dolittle.
