New to SoHo and Neon in January

Sky will drop all three seasons of Yellowstone on Neon 10 days ahead of season one’s premiere on SoHo.

The modern-day ranching drama will stream from January 3 and air from January 13.

The first two seasons are already out on DVD and were meant to release this month on Blu-ray but stock has yet to eventuate.

So Sky’s box-set programming of the Kevin Costner hit is great news for those of us who have have had to wait two years for the series to be picked up here — and another sign of the extra investment Sky is making in its streaming service.

Once a second-tier proposition, it now offers fantastic value with increasingly more Sky acquisitions landing on the service ahead of their linear runs.

Another example is the final season of Shameless, which doesn’t debut on SoHo until January 5, and the true-life dramatisation The Comey Rule, which will premiere January 8 on SoHo, two months after it first streamed on Neon.

Three other newcomers will land on both platforms on the same day: season two of A Discovery of Witches (January 10), quirky abolitionist drama The Good Lord Bird (January 20) and the latest Euphoria episode, Fuck Anyone Who’s Not a Sea Blob.

However, SoHo will have an early window on The Black Narcissus, which has been rescheduled for January 4 but won’t stream on Neon until January 31.

Also new to Neon next month will be Summer of Sports (January 4), a season of local and international documentaries and lifestyle series.

They will include UnbreakableJK’s Japan, Keeping the FaithUnderarm and HBO’s The Shop, in which LeBron James, Maverick Carter and guests like Snoop Dogg and Odell Beckham sit down in a barber shop to speak candidly on sports, music and culture.

I just finished watching season 2 of The Mandalorian and felt blown away. What a brilliant season and WOW, what a episode to end it with. I feel so emotional and happy and sad 🙂

  2. I must check out this series over the break, Trevor. I read the end credits point to a spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett, due this time next year.

  3. Yes, it’s definitely worth watching. The whole season is incredible. Fridays are going to be so boring with an episode of The Mandalorian but still WandaVision will be here from January 15th. YIPPEE 🙂
