New to SoHo in July
Sky’s newest HBO acquisition, The White Lotus, will premiere here within hours of the US (8.30 Mondays from July 12).
The satirical drama is set in a luxurious resort where each passing day reveals a darker side of the guests, hotel employees and Eden-like location.
Murray Bartlett (Tales of the City), Connie Britton (Nashville), Jennifer Coolidge (Gravity Falls), Alexandra Daddario (Why Women Kill), Fred Hechinger (Fear Street), Jake Lacy (High Fidelity), Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), and Steve Zahn (Modern Family) star.
Flatbush Misdemeanors (9.30 Thursdays from July 29) is billed as “a raw comedy of city life” about two lifelong friends who struggle to thrive in raw Brooklyn, New York neighbourhood.
Kevin Iso (High Fidelity) and Dan Perlman (Beware of Dog) star.
Said Variety of the Showtime series: “Flatbush Misdemeanors is a show that takes on race, gentrification, and a rapidly-changing New York with a laid-back angle of approach; it observes its characters, but doesn’t provoke, instead choosing to wait out situations until they reveal their inherent minor-key looniness.”
Reads the blurb for another new Showtime series, Cinema Toast (10.00 Thursdays from July 29):
A wildly experimental new series from an eclectic group of celebrated indie filmmakers who re-edited and re-scored footage from public domain films and overdubbed them with performances of contemporary actors of all stripes to tell a collection of new, wholly original stories.
“Cinema Toast is chaotic, creative, and totally compelling, and it’s made all the more memorable by some truly great voice performances,” said Decider.
Also new to SoHo next month will be the “golden girl of Rome” drama Domina (9.30 Wednesdays from July 7), which already can be streamed on Neon.
