New to SoHo2 in March

Next month SoHo2 will pick up the Syfy series that’s Sky’s been streaming on Neon, Deadly Class (8.30 Sundays from March 3).

Based on the 2014 Image Comics graphic novel by Rick Remender and Wes Craig, it’s described as a coming-of-age journey full of ancient mystery and teen angst.

Set in a dark, heightened world against the backdrop of late ‘80s counter culture, Deadly Class follows the story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a teen living on the streets who is recruited into Kings Dominion, an elite private academy where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.

Reviews ranged from, “You’ll like Deadly Class from the beginning” (TV Guide) to, “What seems cool and lacerating on a comic book page doesn’t necessarily translate exactly to the TV screen” (Variety).

Also new will be What We Do in the Shadows (which will stream on Neon from the same day, March 28), and the HBO movie, O.G (March 1), which stars Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright as a former gang leader who risks his pending freedom after 24 years behind bars to when he takes a new inmate — and gang prospect — under his wing.

The month’s other premiere will be the HBO documentary, Breslin and Hamill: Deadline Artists (March 30), which explores the last great days of print journalism through the careers and personalities of New York City giants Jimmy Breslin and Pete Hamill.

“At close to two hours, Breslin and Hamill may preach too long,” The Washington Post said, “but its copious valentines are appropriately strewn with little heartbreaks — the hard Irish-American upbringings of both men, leading to their triumphs and failures, their struggles with booze and (especially for Breslin) their experiences with grief.”

Back for Box Set Saturdays will be Legion (S1), White Dragon, Waco, Cleaning Up, Barry (S1) and Veep (S6).
