Matthew Rhys (The Americans) leads an ensemble cast in this haunting three-part story of love and revenge, set over a desperately tense 24-hour period in the beautiful countryside of Fermanagh, Ireland in 1885. It is Beth Winters’ 23rd birthday, the day she has decided to join her secret lover and escape from her limited life and difficult relationship with her protestant stepfather. Jamie Dornan (The Fall) and Ann Skelly (Red Rock) co-star. (8.30 Wednesdays from September 4.)
The Rook
In this supernatural thriller adapted from the bestselling novel by Daniel O’Malley, a young woman wakes up on a London bridge suffering from amnesia and is surrounded by dead bodies wearing latex gloves. As she is pursued by shadowy paranormal adversaries, she grapples with peculiar “abilities” of her own. She must fight to uncover her past, and resume her position in Britain’s most secret – and supernatural – service before the traitors who stole her memory can finish what they started. American Horror Story: 1984
Season nine of pays homage to the slasher films of the ‘80s, such as the Friday the 13th franchise. Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, and Leslie Grossman star. (8.30 Saturdays from September 21.)
