New to TVNZ+: August 16-22

Season two of the darkly comic Australian drama Bay of Fires lights up TVNZ+ from August 16.

Financial scammer Stella has finally settled into her the small Tasmanian town of Mystery Bay — only for her family to have to deal with an unhinged drug lord, a doomsday cult, the resurrection of her nemesis, and civil war among the locals.

The Sydney Morning Herald says S2 recaptures the original’s “happily nutty spirit” as part-crime thriller, part-family drama.

• Think Like a Forest (August 21), in which conservationist Sam The Trap Man presents a vision for a regenerative native forests future with an ambitious, national-scale environmental initiative.

Movies new to TVNZ+ from August 19 include Rams, 21 Bridges and Our Idiot Brother while bowing the same time as their linear debuts, as previewed here, are Taskmaster NZ, Kitchen Nightmares S8, Australian Survivor: Australia vs The World and Celebrity Gladiators.
