New to TVNZ+: December 7-13

Love Triangle UK (December 13) follows six singles seeking their perfect match via text, then choosing between two hopefuls to move in with – only for the rejected party to make an unexpected return and shack up with them.

TVNZ promises a “deliciously juicy” series that takes third-wheeling to new heights — but did it live up to the hype in the UK?

The Sun quoted TV bosses as saying it will put “Love Island to shame” whereas viewers thought it “a budget version of Married At First Sight“.

But The Guardian dubbed the Channel 4 show “messy, explosive and highly entertaining“.

Refuge: A Duty to Care (December 7) is an award-winning NZ documentary about the Pet Refuge, a temporary shelter for animals who are the victims of domestic violence.

Dangerous Breed: Crimes. Cons. Cats. (December 8) is a 2022 true-crime series in which filmmaker Frederick Kroetsch uncovers a slew of shocking sexual allegations levelled against controversial wrestler and cat breeder Teddy Hart.

“It’s a tabloid-y tale of sex, drugs, and violence, and one that Kroetsch rightfully views as an indictment of himself and the tawdry genre that helped facilitate its horrors,” said The Daily Beast.

Live sports coverage includes Premier League Hockey: Finals Day (December 7), Black Caps vs England in their 2nd test (December 7-10), Hungry Jack’s NBL25 Season: BNZ Breakers (December 7 & 12) and TAB Chasing The Fox (December 13).

Also new are full seasons of Britannia (December 10) and 2013’s Dracula (December 12), and the movies Lowdown Dirty Criminals, We are Your Friends and The Lost City of Z (December 11).
