New to TVNZ+ in February

The Flatshare (February 27, full season) is a Paramount+ comedy starring Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) and Anthony Welsh (The Great) as Londoners who share occupation of a flat at different times: she gets it weeknights and weekends, he sleeps there weekdays and stays with his girlfriend at weekends.

They never meets but are drawn into each other’s messy lives through animated and spontaneous post-it conversations.

“There’s zero personality to the leads, the plot’s full of holes and it’s utterly unrealistic,” The Guardian said. “But this romcom about a couple who fall in love while timesharing an apartment is oddly irresistible.”

The Telegraph dubbed it  “a Fleabag-lite romcom … tailormade for the cost-of-living crisis.”

The Ex-Wife (February 3, full season) is another Paramount+ newcomer but a psychological thriller about a happily-married young woman and middle-aged man whose family life is turned upside down by his ex-wife — only for the true villain to be someone else.

When Bob Came (February 6, full season) is a James Rolleston-fronted six-part documentary series that explores the enduring cultural, political, and musical impact of Bob Marley’s iconic 1979 concert at the Western Springs Stadium in Auckland.

Elvis: Heartbreaker (February 26, full season) is a three-part exploration of Elvis Presley’ relationships with women, many shockingly young, the depths of his drug abuse and the impact of his mother’s death.

Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams (February 5, full season) has the Top Gear star returning to the Northern English town where he grew up to create a cricket team from scratch with reluctant teenagers.

Bad Chefs (February 24, full season) is billed as a “chaotic new reality cooking competition” hosted by YouTube star Chunkz. The twist? The truly terrible chefs — 10 takeaway addicts — can only eat what they cook.

Other highlights include: Seven Days on Mars (February 19), in which Professor Brian Cox fulfils a childhood dream by going behind the scenes at Nasa’s mission control for Mars 2020; One of Us is Lying (S1, February 18), an acclaimed Peacock whodunit for young adults; The Box (February 25), a Paramount+ true-crime documentary series that’s been hailed as “gripping, harrowing, and totally engrossing”; and S2 of Bel Air (weekly from February 23) .

Also don’t overlook S1-5 of Love/Hate (February 10), a riveting organised crime drama set in Dublin that ran from 2010-14.

It was first seen here on the Rialto Channel and stars Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Avengers: Infinity War), Robert Sheehan (The Umbrella Academy), Killian Scott (Calvary), Ruth Negga (Preacher) and Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones, Kin).
