New to TVNZ+: January 10-16

Despite having aired three months ago on ITV, TVNZ+ will drip-feed weekly double-episodes of Frauds, a Suranne Jones-Jodie Whitaker caper about two con women — one terminally ill — who reunite to pull off their last art heist.

“It’s a wild, thrilling ride whose portrait of a toxic friendship is fantastically stylish,” raved The Guardian.

“Plot twists are layered between deepening revelations … so you get all the satisfactions of a Thomas Crown Affair-ish caper – executed with no shortage of brio and admirable willingness to skate over rampant absurdities.”

Echoed the Daily Mail: “Jones and Whittaker are immersed in their characters up to the hilt — entirely believable, despite the forced wit of the badinage.”

And although The Times was underwhelmed by the first episode, “this crime tale is still reasonably entertaining“.

Landing ready to binge is Cold War conspiracy PONIES (January 16).

Set in 1977 Moscow, it stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus) as US embassy secretaries (or PONIES — persons of no interest) who become CIA operatives when their husbands are killed in mysterious circumstances.

“We’re women, people only look at us if they want to have sex with us or marry us, and that’s it,” Richardson’s character says in the trailer. “No one, would ever suspect anything of us.”

The eight-part thriller streams here the same time as its Peacock run in the US.

Also new are S3 of Love Island All Stars (daily from January 14), live Super Smash Cricket and NFL play-offs, and the movies Bombshell, Anna, Cold Pursuit and Snowpiercer (January 15).

You also can stream the linear debuts of The Guest, Corriedale, Taskmaster’s New Year Treat 2026, The Big Fat Quiz Best Bits, The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition, Sullivan’s Crossing S2 and Build Your Dream Home in the Country.
