New to TVNZ+: March 22-28

Double-episodes of Black Snow’s second season roll out weekly from March 23.

It launched earlier this month on Stan, where new eps stream weekly.

S2 has suspended Queensland detective James Cormack (Vikings’ Travis Fimmel) investigating the disappearance of a 21-year-old woman while still searching for his own brother, who’s been missing since their childhood.

“Australia’s served up its fair share of regional mysteries in recent years, and most of the virtues here are par for the course,” ScreenHub said.

“The story doesn’t drag its heels, there’s a strong supporting cast (including Dan Spielman and Kat Stewart), and plenty of nice shots of the Glass House mountains where much of the series was filmed.

“But the big strength of Black Snow is that it knows what it’s got in Fimmel.”

Alone Australia (March 27) returns for S3, dropping 10 fearless contestant, including a professional possum trapper from NZ, into the rugged West Coast Ranges of Tasmania.

SBS claims S3 is “wilder, tougher, and more extreme than ever” and will be “a season of firsts”, including an equal number of men and women competing (new episodes land weekly).

Irresistible: Why We Can’t Stop Eating (March 22) investigates the irresistibility of ultra-processed foods and makes the case that food companies need regulation.

“The big message of this show is that we should not feel guilty about our eating habits, just angry about how we got here,” the Irish Times said.

John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise (March 28) was praised as “the definitive history” of the serial killer who would have scared even Stephen King’s Pennywise.

The six-part Peacock series has inspired a limited drama series with the confusingly similar title of Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy.

Two movies join TVNZ+ this week — Josie and the Pussycats, 7500 (March 27) — and there also will be live coverage of T20i cricket — White Ferns v Australia, Black Caps v Pakistan) — and the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers – Finals.
