New to TVNZ+: May 10-16

Fans of Virgin River on Netflix will want to check out 2023 drama Sullivan’s Crossing (May 13).

Inexplicably, TVNZ+ is releasing episodes weekly following its triple-episode launch — even though the CW drama is about to start its third season in the US!

About a neurosurgeon who quits Boston to return home to the picturesque Nova Scotia campground owned by her estranged father, it’s been compared to a Hallmark spin on Northern Exposure.

“Virgin River EP Roma Roth is the creator of Sullivan’s Crossing, and it really doesn’t stray all that much from the formula that has made Virgin so successful,” Decider said.

“If you’ve been hankering for another heaping helping of slow-moving, romantic drama a la Virgin River, then Sullivan’s Crossing should help satisfy that craving.”

Also new are S3 of Big Boys (May 16) and reality series Dance Moms: A New Era (May 10).

“This Hulu reboot of the Lifetime show plunges into the simmering rivalries of a suburban studio,” said the Wall Street Journal, which dubbed it a “Real Housewives of Ballet Class“:

The competition includes bratty, entitled, arrogant, ruthless children. Their daughters are also involved.

Movies new to TVNZ+ include Don’t Breath 2 (May 10) and from May 16:

• The Way of the Dragon
• Carol
• Lion
• Frances Ha.

Also new is live ANZ Premiership Netball (4.00 Saturday) while streaming the same day as their linear debuts are The Other Mrs Jordan, Our Dream Farm with Matt Baker, S8 of The Great Australian Bake Off, and S18 of Britain’s Got Talent, as previewed here.
