New to TVNZ+: May 16-22

Fans of Kelly Reilly can see her in two completely different roles over the next few weeks: as fiery rancher Beth Dutton in Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch, which premieres May 15 on Sky, and as an ex-cop in the new TVNZ+ Welsh drama, Under Salt Marsh (May 18).
In the latter, she plays a detective-turned-teacher who discovers the body of her nine-year-old pupil, seemingly drowned.
The death shocks her small, tight-knit community and has parallels with an unsolved cold case she’d worked on, forcing her to reunite with her former partner (Rage Spall).
“This carefully plotted tale of the investigation into a small boy’s death is a compelling, psychologically astute watch – which constantly pulls the rug out from under you,” The Guardian said.
The Australian thought it “bit of a slow burn, but … finely crafted” while The Times said: ”This is dour stuff, but while you won’t feel remotely cheered by this drama, you won’t be bored by it either.”
As puzzling as its mystery is TVNZ’s decision to stream it in weekly double-episodes rather than let viewers binge the six-part Sky Original.

One Hundred and Thirteen (May 16) is a German-language drama about a devastating bus crash that shatters 113 lives.
“In an era where broadcasters often rely on established IP or formulaic crime dramas, Hundertdreizehn stands out as an original, structurally daring project,” TVBizz magazine said.
“The German-Austrian co-production, nominated for a Golden Nymph at this year’s Monte-Carlo TV Festival, is a series that defies conventional storytelling.”
Also new are the documentary Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl (May 22), season four of SkyMed (May 22), which disrupts the dynamic with new rookie pilots and medics, and every episode of the 2016 Olivia Colman dark comedy Flowers (May 22) and the Michael J Fox ’90s hit Spin City (May 17).
Another blast from the past is the 2011 PD James adaptation, Death Comes to Pemberley (May 21), a whodunit featuring Jane Austin’s iconic Pride and Prejudice characters, Elizabeth (Anna Maxwell Martin) and Darcy (Matthew Rhys), as a married couple whose annual ball is disrupted by murder most foul.
Also new are the movies Edge of Tomorrow and Get Smart, live netball and most of the TVNZ linear debuts previewed here.
