New to TVNZ+: May 24-30

The latest network TV variation on Sherlock Holmes is Watson, a contemporary procedural that bills itself as a “medical-drama-detective mashup”.
Reviews were mixed, with most of the praise being for star Morris Chestnut (“endlessly charismatic,” reckons Variety).
“What we get is, more or less, a warmer, fuzzier version of House,” said the LA Times.
But the Wall Street Journal argued, “There is no point in comparing one Watson to any other, because this one is so audaciously revisionist. But as a free-standing medical mystery series, it has promise.”
USA Today couldn’t disagree more: “A patient-of-the-week drama gets crashed together with this half-hearted Sherlock mythology and the wheels fall right off.”
The first full season streams from May 25.

Don’t (May 29) is an NZ On Air-funded comedy starring Bubbah Olo as an arrested adolescent on the verge of turning 30. Reads the blurb:
The big questions in life – marriage, kids and property – are looming larger than ever. Now, Bubbah’s on a mission to face adulting head-on and find answers for herself.
Teaming up with fellow comedians Courtney Dawson, Rhiannon McCall and Bailey Poching to go deep on life’s most pressing choices, together they’re putting themselves on the line, taking to the streets, and tracking down the real experts on living the dream in Aotearoa today.
Also new are highlights of the Aotearoa Music Awards (May 30), the latest full season of Love Triangle UK (May 27), the six-year-old Lifetime dramedy American Princess (May 29) and the movies Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (May 29).
