New to TVNZ+: May 3-9

French crime drama fans can binge the first two seasons of Vise le Coeur from May 4.

Claire Klein, who appeared in the ’90s TV series Highlander, plays a police captain who struggles to investigate a woman’s disappearance because of hostility from other cops after she testifies against colleagues.

The 12 episodes are spread over two seasons from 2022 and 2023 and have aired on SBS in Australia.

Season two of Poker Face , in which Natasha Lyonne plays Columbo-like sleuth Charlie Cale, opens with three episodes on May 9, with the rest rolling out weekly express from the US.

Melanie Lynskey heads a roster of guest stars that includes Rhea Perlman, Richard Kind, Kumail Nanjiani, Giancarlo Esposito, Justin Theroux, Awkwafina and Katie Holmes.

“Poker Face season 1 did so well that season 2 will be even longer,” ScreenRant says.  “While the show’s inaugural run consisted of 10 instalments, Poker Face season 2 will boast 12 episodes.

“The story’s semi-anthological format means those two extra episodes can pretty much take Lyonne’s character down a whole host of unexplored avenues.”

S2 launches on Duke the same day, as does its fast-tracked stablemate, S2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City, in which unlikely allies Negan and Maggie continue to navigate the ruins of Manhattan in the wake of the zombie apocalypse.

Streaming the same day as their linear debuts are MasterChef: Back to Win, Taskmaster UK and Australia, The Feud and Abused by Mum: The Ruby Franke Scandal, as previewed here.
