New to TVNZ+: May 31-June 6

TVNZ+ drip-feeds yet another series that viewers should be able to binge: St. Denis Medical (June 6).
The mockumentary went to air on NBC in November and concluded its first season of 18 episodes on April 29.
Why TVNZ+ is rolling it out weekly in double-eps is inexplicable, unless it plans to shortly launch the show on TVNZ 2 and wants to build momentum both on-air and online.
US critics thought the series was just what the doctor ordered: “consistently amusing, sometimes funny, basically sweet” (LA Times); “could be the best network comedy since Abbott [Elementary]” (Time); “worth checking out” (The Hollywood Reporter).
The show’s debut coincides with news that Zach Braff will return as JD in the Scrubs sequel and a resurgence of broadcast and streaming interest in hospital dramas.
With St. Denis Medical following in the wake of Grey’s Anatomy, The Pitt, Brilliant Minds, Doc and Pulse, “Hollywood continues to tap the vein that is the medical genre — now more than ever,” Variety reports.
In Porn, Power, Profit (May 31), Love Island star Georgia Harrison finds out who is behind the Deepfake porn sites and Nudifying apps that profit from intimate image abuse. Part one of two.
Teen Killer/Online Predator (June 4) is billed as a “disturbing two-part documentary” about how the Northern Irish teen who became one of the world’s worst online child sex abusers, catfish killer Alexander McCartney, was caught.
Back for yet another run is Nashville S1-6 (June 1) while streaming the same day as their linear debuts, as previewed here, are Walking With Dinosaurs, Virgin Island, Irresistible: Why We Can’t Stop Eating, Diary of a Junior Doctor, Cult Cars: Landcruiser,S2 of The Horne Section and S31 of Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
