New to TVNZ+: November 25-December 1

With the first year of AMC+ in NZ having drawn to an anticlimactic close, yet another of the troubled streamer’s flagships turns up on the free-to-stream TVNZ+.

Interview With the Vampire is a cornerstone adaptation of the Anne Rice novel that anchors a franchise AMC+ hopes will become another Walking Dead phenomenon.

So it’s surprising to see the impressively-mounted, exceptionally-grisly gothic thriller on another platform so soon while it continues on AMC+.

Perhaps AMC is attempting to heighten interest in the richly atmospheric tale of two queer vampires ahead of the second season’s launch, which has been delayed until next year because of the writers’ strike.

And Rice fans who don’t want to shell out for an AMC+ sub will be hoping TVNZ+ conjures up her second entry in the Immortal Universe, Mayfair Witches.

Those who prefer premium contemporary drama, like the superlative Irish crime sensation Kin, which TVNZ+ recently picked up from AMC, will be wishing the likes of 61st Street, Moonhaven and The Beast Must Die also rise from the ashes of AMC+ to join the TVNZ+ stable.

Also new are Brooklyn Nine-Nine (every episode from December 1) and highlights of the the 57th annual Country Music Association Awards, which were presented last week (November 25).

A season of Red Bull documentaries that streams from November 29 includes:

  • Red Bull Defiance
  • The MAD Life: Full Throttle
  • Braden Currie: Dedicated
  • Made in New Zealand
  • Broxh: Uncovered
  • Brook MacDonald: Road to Recovery
  • Nico’s Blank Canvas
  • Mt Fuji In One Stroke
  • Space Jump
  • One With The Water: Aotearoa
  • Pushing Progression: Breaking

And among the movies being added from December 1 are:

  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople
  • Coraline
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • The Addams Family
  • The Princess Bride
  • The Neverending Story.
