New to TVNZ OnDemand in February
New series abound on TVNZ OnDemand next month, from a US border patrol thriller and Australian true-crime dramatisation to the latest Superman reboot and David Mitchell comedy.
Coyote (full season from February 10) stars Michael Chiklis (The Shield) as a retired border patrol agent who’s forced to work for the very people he spent his life trying to keep out of the US.
Reviews ranged from “high drama that at times borders on epic” (Reason) to “messy and packed with contrivances” (The Hollywood Reporter).
Superman & Lois (express weekly from February 24) teams the world’s most famous superhero, aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin), and famed journalist Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) as working parents in today’s society.
Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, they worry about whether their sons, Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan (Alexander Garfin), could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers — which Lois’ father, Gen. Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh), calls upon to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice.
Informer 3838 (full season from February 24) dramatises how Nicola Gobbo (Ella Scott Lynch) was Melbourne gangland’s go-to defence lawyer, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Carl Williams, Tony Mokbel, the Morans, the Carlton Crew and Roberta Williams.
Although she knew their dirty secrets, they had no idea she was a double-agent, betraying them to the police while defending them in court.
Back (full season from February 4) stars David Mitchell as the son of a legendary publican who’s set to take over his late father’s pub when his foster brother (Robert Webb) turns up out of the blue, he suspects, to steal the family business
We Are Who We Are (full season from February 20) is a coming-of-age drama series from Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) about two American teenagers as they explore their true identities while on a military base in an Italian seaside town.
The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius (full series from February 6) is a docudrama about how the South African Paralympic sprinter and international hero came to murder his then-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
There also will be new seasons of Doctor Doctor (full season from February 14) and Queen Sugar (express weekly from February 17), and the launch of another branded channel, [adult swim], with series like Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros., Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Rick ands Morty.

If TVNZ is getting Superman & Lois, it appears they either forgot or choose not to obtain Batwoman season 2, which has already started (last month). They really don’t want me to watch their services, do they?
