New to TVNZ OnDemand in June

TVNZ OnDemand has added Everything I Know About Love to its June line-up of premieres.

The seven-part BBC adaptation of Dolly Alderton’s memoir about two childhood friends whose relationship is tested in adulthood will stream from June 8.

Set in a 2012 London flat, with flashbacks to suburban adolescence in the early 2000s, the series is billed as a deep dive into bad dates, heartaches and humiliations, and asks whether platonic love can survive romantic love as the protagonists grow up.

Other June highlights will include the Martin Freeman crime drama The Responder (June 2), a US reboot of Queer as Folk (June 9), and Bonnie & Clyde (June 30), a foreign language drama based on the unbelievable true story of The Netherlands’ own Bonnie & Clyde, Antonio Marcos van der Ploeg and Enise Bircan.

Dating show The Courtship (June 1) has been dubbed “The Bachelor meets Bridgerton“, and in another reality newcomer, The Drop (June 10), nine of Britain’s most promising up-and-coming creatives go head-to-head to win the chance to have their first line stocked in a major UK retailer.

Watch also for new seasons of The Orville (June 3) and Good Grief (June 30), a slew of new true-crime documentaries, and true-Brit box sets of The Inbetweeners (June 12), Bad Education (June 12) and Broadchurch (June 23).

The premise of The Social Media Virgin (June 27) asks: “How far would you go for one million followers? Kent Briggs (Who Killed Lucy The Poodle) is willing to go from zero to hero … and then pull the plug entirely, deleting all traces.

“This quirky series combines humour and heart-warming moments with familiar Kiwi faces. Can Kent reach this social media milestone, or better yet, can he leave it all behind if he does?”

Also new in June will be Snatch S1-2 (June 12), From the Vault: The Royals (June 12), Junior Bake-Off S7 (June 16), Laughs Unleashed (June 15) and
Four Weddings and a Funeral S1 June (24).
