New to TVNZ OnDemand in November

Kiwis will be among the first in the world to see the $US33 million TV adaptation of Das Boot.

TVNZ OnDemand will stream the eight-part series about the the maiden voyage of a German U-Boat crew from November 24, which is when it will surface internationally.

Drama Quarterly predicts it could be as revolutionary as Band of Brothers was in 2001.

“This is a very big statement but I think Das Boot could potentially do the same for us now,” Bavaria Fiction’s executive producer Moritz Polter says. “Again and again, you need to reach audiences and show them what war is really like and also show them different aspects of war that one was not able to portray 10 years ago.

“One of the great things about the original movie is it showed Germans as human beings rather than just villains, and that’s something that hasn’t really been done on an international level in the television world ever since.”

TVNZOD also has picked up My Brilliant Friend (weekly from November 19), an Italian drama series about an elderly woman living in a house crammed with books who starts writing a tale to unveil the mystery of her lifelong best friend and worst enemy.

Other newcomers will include climate change doco The Human Element (from November 1), INXS: Never Tear Us Apart (date to be confirmed), new weekly episodes of Re-Fresh (from November 17) and season two of Baby Mama’s Club (from late November).

There also will be new content for Fuel TV (from November 1) and OUTtv (from November 15).

Blasts from the past will include seasons 1-6 of Dawson’s Creek, 1-7 of The Shield and s8 of ER (from November 1), s1-6 of The Nanny (from November 8) and s1-4 of The Tudors (from late November).

Hey. I’m sorry for asking, TVNZ usually has ABC content, therefore has there been an announcement about The Rookie?
