New to TVNZ+: September 13-19

TVNZ+ celebrates Māori Language Week (Te Wiki o te Reo Māori) with new seasons of Homesteads and Kairākau, and the premieres of End of the Valley and Ruamata: It’s More Than Hockey, the first documentary that’s entirely in te reo Māori.

Dubbed “the classic tale of David vs. Goliath”, it chronicles Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ruamata’s rise to the upper echelons of hockey as they become the first Māori immersion school in a century to compete in the prestigious Rankin Cup.

End of the Valley is new to TVNZ+ but screened earlier this year on Whakaata Māori, when The Spinoff described it as a “confronting new Māori drama [that] will resonate with those familiar with iwi politics …

“It’s hard to think of any other show that so aptly captures the tensions between corporate iwi executives and those at the flaxroots.”

Ruamata, Valley, S2 of Homesteads and S4 of Kairākau stream from September 14.

Also new are Sullivan’s Crossing S2 (September 19), every episode of Teen Wolf (September 17) and the movies The Spy Who Dumped Me, Red Rocket and Mirror Mirror (September 16).

Streaming the same time as their linear debuts, as previewed here, are Fishing & Adventure, New Zealand’s Best Homes With Phil Spencer, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, Highway Cops and Dog Squad.
