New to TVNZ+: September 27-October 3

In another example of how Disney is revising its streaming strategy to maximise revenue, FX baseball drama Clipped will stream on TVNZ+ from October 3.

Of course, resolution will be limited to 1080p whereas Disney+ subscribers can stream it in 4K.

The series dramatises what happened when the racist comments of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling were captured on tape and heard around the world (watch the trailer).

“Sordid and soapy as befitting the story of Donald Sterling’s fall from grace, Clipped‘s terrific ensemble brings this memorable cast of real-life characters to vivid life,” was the Rotten Tomatoes consensus.

Laurence Fishburne, Jacki Weaver and Ed O’Neill star.

S3 of Sam Neill courtroom drama The Twelve (October 1) follows a murder trial in which the victim was researching a 1968 cold case — the link between the two crimes unearths long-buried secrets. Fellow Kiwi Danielle Cormack co-stars.

The season will unfold in double-episodes; watch the trailer.

Other newcomers range from Northwoods Survival (October 1), a National Geographic series about young Canadians building a life in remote and rugged landscapes (watch the trailer), and S11 of Peppa Pig (October 1) to the concert documentary Oasis: Knebworth 1996 (October 3), and  live T20 cricket cricket (7.00, October 1 & 3) and football.

TVNZ+ will stream all NZ matches in the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025 (as well as semi-finals and the final), starting with NZ v Chile (midday, September 28), and continuing with Egypt (9am, October 1) and Japan (midday October 4).

Joining the movie roster are Challengers and Road House while streaming the same time as their linear debuts, as previewed here, are I Fought the Law, The Graham Norton Show S33, Uncanny S2, Taskmaster Australia S4, Grand Designs Australia S11 and Hullraisers S2.
