NHNZ Goes 3D

Dunedin-based NHNZ has announced at the MIPCOM international TV market plans to make its first 3D factual series.

The 10-part joint initiative is with Singapore’s Beach House Pictures, with which the documentarymaker has had a long association and has been developing 3D capabilities over the past year.

NHNZ managing director Michael Stedman said 3D production had captured the attention of audiences worldwide and was a natural progression for NHNZ and its partners.

“We expect to see enormous growth in the 3D market, and being this early out of the blocks will give us an advantage when the demand for 3D starts to swell.”

Earlier this year NHNZ said it was establishing a production office in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, from where it will build up its 3D production output and expertise in co-operation with TwoFour54, a regional creative centre facilitating the development of Arabic media and entertainment content.

At the time, Stedman said NHNZ was poised to embark on a raft of 3D productions.

“The interest in 3D is accelerating and the world is embracing 3D at an incredible rate. This format is a great enhancement for storytelling and will create a wonderful platform for telling the stories which we are famous for.

“So collaborating with TwoFour54 will give us a major opportunity to venture into the production of high-end HD and 3D documentaries.”
