Not So Hopelessly Devoted …

Three is adding an episode of Lost & Found to tonight’s schedule and pushing back the Olivia Newtown-John miniseries, Hopelessly Devoted to You, to 9.30.

I haven’t yet seen the ratings for last night’s premiere of Hopelessly Devoted but they must have been dire for Three to make such an 11th-hour change to its schedule.

Lost & Found has been a star performer this season for the network, with the switch to Monday nights making it one of the week’s most-watched series.

Last week’s episode out-rated blockbuster lead-in Dancing With the Stars, with a 7.5 rating and 28.4% share in the 25-54 demographic.

But rather than risk viewers not seeing a new instalment because of the abrupt rescheduling, Three has programmed an 8.30 repeat (episode two of season three, in which the daughter of a well-known entertainer hopes to meet the father she’s never known).

The changes mean Newshub Late will now air at 11.25, The Hui at 11.45 and The Nation at 12.20.

In Australia, Hopelessly Devoted was critically castigated and the conclusion was a ratings flop, according to The Music website.

The TV ratings for part two of Olivia Newton-John biopic, Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You, have plummeted after last week’s premiere episode was widely panned by critics and fans.

As TV Tonight reports, Sunday night’s episode was watched on Channel Seven by 488,000 viewers, well down on last week’s figure of 735,000.

It comes after last week’s episode was slammed by viewers as “very bad” and a “trainwreck”, while a large amount of criticism was directed at the performance of lead actress Delta Goodrem for her portrayal of the Australian music legend.

The ratings pale in comparison to other music biopics screened on the Seven network. 2014’s INXS miniseries premiered to 1.91 million viewers, while the premiere episode of the Peter Allen biopic drew 1.33 million viewers and the Molly Meldrum series was watched by 1.3 million.

That’s sad as I actually enjoyed part 1 of the Olivia Newton-John miniseries and looking forward to part 2, I think Three should have stuck to their schedule 🙂

  2. It was dire. I lasted 10 minutes before I got bored. Sounds like a lot of people agreed with me.
