Oh Brother!

TVNZ 2’s Big  Brother Australia experiment is over.

The reality flop will shift to Duke from May 25, allowing TVNZ 2 to reinstate The Simpsons at 5.00, Friends at 5.30 and The Big Bang Theory at 6.00.

Pre-empting its stable comedy roster to accommodate BBA was always a baffling strategy given the franchise lost its lustre in this market long ago.

As one media buyer said to me, “What were they thinking?”

The ratings were a disaster from the outset and led to 6.30 anchor Home & Away, which rivals lead-out Shortland Street in popularity, shedding viewers.

Duke will air it 11.50am Wednesday-Friday instead of Dukebox Music; it will continue to stream Ondemand, with new episodes landing Tuesday-Thursday.

YAY, Daredevil will be having a new series on Disney+. So exciting to see Daredevil officially in the MCU ?

  2. That’s a shame. I love the show and haven’t missed an episode. Although I see the latest season has slipped a little in the ratings already in Australia.

  3. New Zealand viewers are not so keen for Big Brother Australia, any reason why? What would New Zealanders rather watch instead?

  4. Are you guys excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi on Friday night? I can’t believe Ewan McGregor is returning as Obi-Wan, it’s such a thrill ?

  5. Not really, as I and I’m sure most other older Marvel/Star Wars fans are sick of the bait and switch. I’ll be surprised if Obi-Wan is even close to being the main character in one episode, let alone the series. The trailer has given all the hints already. At least the terrible She-Hulk trailer isn’t bothering covering up the ‘message’ …

  6. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how awesome Obi-Wan Kenobi is. I don’t think Ewan McGregor would have done it otherwise ?

  7. So it turns out the bait and switch is in, so no, I wasn’t pleasantly surprised, I wasn’t surprised at all. If they wanted to do a show about a 10 year old Leia, why call it Obi-Wan, except…?

  8. Agreed. It was a snoozefest. Worse than the latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

  9. WOW, so hard to please. I thought it was amazing. Looking forward to Wednesday ?
