Prime Video Adds Crime 101 April 1

Prime Video has added the all-star, two-thumbs-up thriller Crime 101 to its April slate.
The Don Winslow adaptation, about an elusive jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) whose score of a lifetime is jeopardised by a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) and a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo), debuts April 1.
Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte co-star.
Critics loved the Bart Layton (American Animals)-directed movie, with Rotten Tomatoes summing it up thus: “Crime 101 has studied the greats of L.A. Noir closely and shows its homework with sleek action set pieces and vivid characterisations, receiving top marks and graduating near the top of its class.”
Here’s the trailer.

Prime Video’s also released the trailer for another April attraction, South American family saga The House of the Spirits.
The first Spanish-language television adaptation of Isabel Allende’s iconic novel premieres on April 29 with three episodes, followed by new episodes weekly until the May 13 finale.

Apple TV’s own Spanish language drama, Las Azules (Women in Blue), returns for its second season on August 12. Reads the blurb:
Season two will follow María (Bárbara Mori), now promoted to lieutenant, as she finds herself torn between the rules she’s sworn to uphold and a relentless pull towards the truth when the body of a student activist is discovered, and the Azules are pulled into an investigation that reaches back to the student massacre of 1968. Before they can make sense of what they’ve found, the body of a person connected to that brutal chapter of history is found, sending shockwaves through the department.
Someone is delivering justice straight to the police’s door, and the Azules are the department’s last hope of stopping the killer. As María, Valentina (Natalia Téllez), Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), and Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana) fight battles both inside and outside the precinct, buried truths rise to the surface and they’re forced to confront an uncomfortable question: in a system plagued with corruption, what is the cost of fighting for their ideals?

Prime Video’s also teased its first glimpse of Every Year After, an eight-part adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel that unfolds over six years and one week in a quintessential lake town.
Billed as “a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever”, it can be binged from June 10.
