Prometheus Unbound on Blu-ray
The four-disc, Blu-ray 3D Collector’s Edition of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus will include more than seven hours of extras when it’s released here on October 17, including an alternate opening and ending, extended and deleted scenes, and access to Peter Weyland’s file.
In a press release, Universal Pictures NZ said the 20th Century Fox release would “unlock secrets and get answers to questions left unanswered at the cinema”.
Written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and Jon Spaihts, Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green in a prequel-of-sorts to Alien.
The plot? Archeologist couple Elizabeth Shaw (Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Marshall-Green) discover a star map that they interpret as an invitation from humanity’s forerunners, the “Engineers.” Determined to find out more about them, the couple boards the scientific vessel “Prometheus,’ created and funded by Peter Weyland (Pearce), CEO of Weyland Corporation.
Lead by mission director Meredith Vickers (Theron) and monitored by Weyland’s android David (Fassbender), the team of explorers find a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth in the darkest corners of the universe where they fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
The Prometheus four-disc Collector’s Edition and two-disc Blu-ray features the original theatrical release, the behind-the-scenes documentary “Furious Gods”, an alternate opening and ending, extended/deleted scenes, commentaries by the director and writers, and the cutting-edge “Prometheus: Weyland Corp Archive Second Screen App”.
The 2D Blu-ray will retail for $50 and the 3D version for $55.

WTF? So much ado about a pretty crappy film, I’d rather see Roger Corman’s Frankenstein Unbound than any more Prometheus drivel.
